Rausvas Kanasazi—known more commonly as "Red" due to the difficulty many have pronouncing his name—was born and raised in the Brume of Ishgard. His father was a poor Midlander merchant, and his mother, though she appeared as a beautiful Miqo'te woman, was in truth a powerful Doman Kitsune. She had fled the Garlean invasion of Doma by casting the dangerous spell Flow, which sent her across the aetherial sea to the snowbound outskirts of Ishgard, where Red’s father discovered her, half-frozen. He took her in, nursed her back to health, and the two eventually fell in love.Red grew up unaware of his mother’s true nature. She kept her Kitsune heritage and powers hidden from him, never disappearing for long and never raising suspicion. When Red was still quite young, the Brume suffered a devastating dragon attack. The nobles of Ishgard, fearful for their own safety, ordered the knights to retreat and protect the upper wards, abandoning the poor to their fate.Red's parents died that day—his father shielding him, and his mother giving her life and power to protect him from the flames. He emerged from the burning ruin unscathed and took her surname, Kanasazi, to honor her.
Orphaned, Red survived by stealing. One day, he made the mistake of targeting a passing Roegadyn woman—Rose, a master assassin. She caught him, gave him a brutal thrashing, but then, took pity on him, instead deciding to take him in and trained him in the deadly arts of assassination.Red’s first mission was to eliminate a corrupt noble tied to King Thordan and his Knights Twelve. He succeeded—though he foolishly failed to dodge the arterial spray. Drenched in blood, he returned to Rose’s hideout, earning him the moniker "Red the Bloodspiller."Over time, Red took more contracts, each one another step toward vengeance. Every target he felled was a noble who had profited from the suffering of the Brume.
One day, walking the streets of Ishgard, Red stumbled across a pitch black soul crystal—or perhaps it found him. A voice whispered from it, and then, darkness. When he awoke, the streets were slick with blood, the bodies of Temple Knights surrounding him. He fled Ishgard, hunted and haunted. From that point forward, Red became something more. The soul crystal hadn’t simply granted him power—it had awakened Xak, a violent, bloodthirsty force within him. Xak did not live in the crystal, but within Red himself. He was Red’s Darkside, his Esteem, two sides of the same coin. The soul crystal was merely a physical manifestation of Red’s own aether.Xak was no gentle mentor. His speech patterns and demeanor echoed a sinister teacher. He frequently reminded Red of the difference between a king and his horse, insisting that only by developing an instinctual thirst for battle could Red truly master the Dark Arts.
Red wandered until he found himself aligned with others seeking to protect the people of Hydaelyn—not from voidsent or Garleans, but from greater threats. Alongside Raven Lyer, Cyrus Kalcos, and Blake Shadovor, Red helped to found the Dawn Vigil. Their greatest enemy was Deumschurtz, the Many Sundered, an unhinged Ascian who embraced the Sundering and scattered his soul into countless shards across the Source. But the camaraderie did not last. The Vigil betrayed him. They locked him up in Ishgard under false pretenses, intending to have him executed. Red, ever cunning, planted a glamour prism inside the mouth of a slain guard to fake his own death and escaped.
Later, Red found himself involved with a voidsent named Vyrannis. The original pact was not his—it had been forged by a dear friend, Ashe Xaia, in a desperate attempt to erase painful memories. To spare her, Red took her place.Vyrannis sought to dominate Red, but found her will matched—and ultimately caged—by Xak, already entrenched in Red’s mind.Red eventually joined a criminal organization known as the Red Dragon, led by a male Viera named Samaru Senju. While under their employ, he was captured and thrown into their dungeon—stripped, beaten, and barely kept alive. There, Samaru attempted to bind Red to his service via a blood rune painted with Red's own blood. The spell was completed, but never activated, thanks to an objection from Vyrannis, of all beings. While imprisoned, Red was temporarily blinded during a scuffle with a Miqo'te Machinist named Nalako nan Rasha, one of Samaru's enforcers. She later visited Red in his cell and reversed the blindness. The two shared a cordial, though cautious conversation—though it was Xak, not Red, speaking at the time.Eventually, Red called upon Vyrannis's powers, conjured a crimson aetherial scythe, and escaped the dungeon—reclaiming his gear and exacting vengeance. Some time later, Red reunited with Chisato, a dull-toned, no-nonsense Raen doctor affiliated with the Red Dragon. He met her just outside their compound and apologized. Samaru was there, too. Red severed ties with them both. Chisato forgave him and removed the bounty on his head.
Soon after, Nalako herself left the Red Dragon and reached out to Red. She sought to rebuild her own Northern Branch of the Hunters Organization, a Garlean-rooted group dedicated to hunting voidsent and other threats. Red agreed and joined as a Velite—the lowest rank. After proving himself, he was promoted to Tribunus, and eventually, after becoming a voidsent himself through a ritual gone wrong, he was made an Archon, then Invictus, and finally, upon Nalako stepping down, Primus—leader of the Hunters Organization.
Red’s transformation into a voidsent incubus brought challenges. The ritual meant to grant him control over Vyrannis succeeded, but also fused their souls. Yet with this change came power. He now commanded Kerstas, a greatsword forged from the remnants of high voidsent and the scale of a crystalline wyrm. Within the blade dwelled a loyal, fledgling voidsent who shared the name of the blade.Kerstas responded to commands such as:"Burn, Kerstas." – Offensive surge"Bind, Kerstas." – Thorned vines to ensnare"Feed, Kerstas." – Aether siphoning"Awaken, Kerstas." / "Wake up, Kerstas." – Paralytic gaze"Kerstas, release." – Undo bindings"Bankai." – Full transformation: Red is cloaked in shadows, ignites his Kitsune arm, and wields a double-bladed weapon imbued with flame and fury, "Kinta Kerstas."With each hunt, Red's strength grew. The hunger that plagued other voidsent was held at bay by a magitek eye infused with void-tainted draconic aether, salvaged after defeating the last remnants of Nalako’s voidal corruption. He keeps it in his coat—closely guarded and tracked.
He has loved before. His former partner, Estelle Delacroix, bore him a daughter: Marcelline, a voidsent in Miqo’te form. Estelle, a Reaper and Dark Knight, was corrupted by her void jester avatar after it fed her its own aether to mend her soul. When Cinder Hawke staged her coup, Red sent Estelle and their daughter to Sharlayan for safety. Cinder and other traitors would go on to form their own company: Anyroad.Though the weight of betrayal still lingers, Red is no longer alone. His beloved, Adel Ushiromiya, now known as Neia Natsume, a skilled Gunbreaker and Red Mage, accepted him fully after years apart. They now lead the Hunters side by side.Red trains his troops in Nyaalascape, a virtual datascape built from Nalako’s designs. He meditates daily, hunts alone, and guards the people from the shadows. He will never let the Hunters fall.He is their protector, their sword, and their shield. He is Red.

Rausvas "Red" Kanasazi - Primus
Red is a formidable, battle-worn Midlander known for his sharp wit, scarlet coat, and piercing blue glamoured eyes—slitted to reflect the demonic voidsent within. A master of the Dark Arts and a deadly greatsword named Kerstas,He is both soldier and survivor, assassin and guardian—a man who hates what he has become, but refuses to let that stop him from protecting those he cares for. Though shaped by loss, betrayal, and bloodshed, Red fights on not for glory, but for legacy, vengeance, and the future of those who still believe in him.

Neia Natsume - Lover
She's the one constant in a life full of chaos. A Hingan Miqo'te with a fire in her eyes and steel in her hands—she could kill a man a dozen different ways and look good doing it. But beneath all that skill and sharpness is the same warmth that pulled me back from the edge more times than I care to count. She’s stubborn, quick with her blade and quicker with her words, but there’s a quiet strength in her, too—the kind that doesn’t fade when the world turns cruel. The one I’d fight through fire, void, and worse for. She’s not just part of my story. She’s the reason I still give a damn how it ends.

Bishop Dark - Invictus
Nalako’s finest creation—an android made to mimic a man, but somehow more human than most flesh and blood I’ve met. Built strong, fast, and terrifyingly efficient. One hell of a weapon, and my second-in-command.He’s got programmed loyalty, sure, but don’t let that fool you—he’s got a mouth on him, always ready with some dry quip or sarcastic jab. He’s dependable, though. I’ve trusted him with my life more than once, and he’s never let me down. Some folk think he’s just a machine wearing skin. But I’ve seen him choose to do the right thing, even when it wasn’t in his code. Maybe that’s what makes him one of us.He’s not just a weapon. He’s a Hunter. And one of the best damn ones I’ve got.
